Septic help all around the lake

Outside the city sewer districts, most homes, cabins and rentals around Lake of the Ozarks run on septic. Lake septic is its own animal: shallow rocky soil over bedrock, steep lots, strict lakefront rules, and systems that sit quiet all week and then get hammered by a full house on a holiday weekend.

Tell us what is happening and we connect you with an independent, registered septic contractor who works your side of the lake. The call and the quote are free.

What we can help with

How it works

  1. Call or send the form. Tell us where the property is and what you are seeing.
  2. A local contractor calls you back. Same-day visits for backups when their schedule allows.
  3. You get a quote before work starts. Replacements are permitted and inspected.

Lakefront lots have stricter rules

In Camden County, a septic permit is required for new systems and for replacing an old tank and laterals. That applies to residential lots under three acres, and to any residential lot next to Lake of the Ozarks regardless of size (Camden County Waste Water). Read the plain-English permit guide.

Common questions

How do I know if my septic system is failing?

Slow or gurgling drains, sewage backing up into the lowest tub or shower, a soggy or smelly spot over the lateral lines, and grass that is much greener in strips over the field are the usual signs.

I only use the lake house on weekends. Does that matter?

Yes. Systems that sit idle and then get a full house all at once are under more stress than a system used every day. Pumping on schedule and spreading out laundry over the stay both help.

Is the quote really free?

Yes. The referral is free and the contractor's estimate is free. You only pay the contractor if you hire them.
